Just finished the first of a short series of illustrations with mes amis Angelo Trofa. I adore his work so i was delighted when he asked me to collaborate with him for the 3rd issue of his magazine. I might post a black and white rendition of the work in the new year.
Iv'e taken the first step in evolving one of my everyday sketches into 'real life'. I'm quite content with the end result i think the image in my head has translated directly to paper. I had the idea of using high contrasts in the image as i believed that would bring out a special quality considering the form of the figure.
The logo i have designed for carisma utilises the mythical bird Phoenix as a direct metaphor for the charitie's ethos: ‘Life-Chances for Young People in the Community’.
The Phoenix is described as a bird with a colourful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet(colours interpret the linking together of working groups in the community under one voice). At the end of it’s lifecycle it builds itself a nest of
twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes (the ashes represent Moss Side, Longsight and other parts of inner south Manchester that have become known for drugs, gangs and street violence), from which a new, young phoenix (young phoenix refers to the young people that the charity is involved with) arises, reborn anew to live again (‘reborn anew to live again’ this reflects the new life-chances offered by the charity).
Above is a project i worked on during the summer. I was asked to rebrand a local events hall (Wilton Hall). The composition was inspired by the decor of the place (very Roman-Greco) and the ideas given to me by the team. I also designed a website that wasn't used/completed properly in the end do to certain unfortunate circumstances. My intentions were to use the composition for posters, banners and brochures but in the end the team decided against it. I personally hate the work but it was an interesting task and i learnt a great deal from it.
A project i started before August but didn't have time to finish. Was supposed to be a series of designs showing my appreciation for a brilliant olympics and summer of sport. -Foro Mussolini (Roma)- Graphite, Biro, Charcoal. I approached these designs as experimentation for a future colloboration. The style of the project will be in the same vein as these designs. Watch this space.
Hello all! my name is Fabio Paolucci, i'm a human being hailing from Bletchley (Milton Keynes). This blog is a place where you can explore my 'work'... that's it. Above is a CD/DVD box set.We were asked to rebrand (way back when i was still at college, 2010) and give Psychedelic Rock a new identity for the new age. Seeing as psychedelic rock was influenced by the ecstasy of psychedelic drugs I decided the new face should instead be influenced by the ecstasy and euphoria of human and sexual indulgence. The reason iv'e decided to start with this particular project is because i feel this is when it all began (not life, i didn't come out of the whom waving this project around but the start of my path into design).
